Creating LGBTIQA+ Inclusive Schools
workshop for educators
This professional learning session is designed for teachers and school staff who want to better support LGBTIQA+ students.
Building on our Introduction to LGBTIQA+ Inclusion workshop, it explores the real experiences of LGBTIQA+ young people in schools and learning environments, from navigating identity and belonging to feeling safe and affirmed in learning environments.
Through real stories and practical discussion, participants unpack what inclusive practice looks like day-to-day and collaborate on strategies to create classrooms and school cultures where every student can thrive.
Together, we explore:
What’s appropriate to discuss with young people, and how to respond when they open up.
How to recognise and challenge bias in school culture, policies and language.
Practical strategies to support and empower students to express themselves safely and confidently.
Our training inspires educators to create affirming, inclusive educational spaces where every young person can thrive.

training tailored to you
We use survey data and the latest research to ensure all workshop content is industry-specific and suited to your organisation’s context. Our process includes:
pre-workshop survey
Before our session, we share a short survey to gauge your team’s existing levels of knowledge and collect anonymous questions. This helps us meet the group where they’re at on the day.
post-workshop survey
We gather anonymous responses from participants that provide honest feedback on the workshop, as well as how your team members would like to be supported moving forward.
impact report
Based on the responses we receive, we create a detailed report for you, including our expert recommendations for next steps beyond the workshop.
why schools love queer town
meeting TEACHERS WHERE THEY’RE AT
Our workshops are built on empathy, not judgement. We know schools are busy places, and that supporting every student starts with feeling confident yourself. Whether you’re new to LGBTIQA+ inclusion or building on existing work, we create space for open, honest learning.
centring queer lived experiences
Led by queer educators and inclusion specialists, our sessions share real stories from LGBTIQA+ students, families and staff, offering genuine insight into what belonging looks like at school right now.
making inclusion practical
We focus on what inclusion looks like every day: in language, classroom culture, and staffroom conversations. You’ll leave with strategies that make an immediate difference.
connecting through story
Storytelling drives empathy, clarity and culture change. Our workshops spark conversation, reflection and connection that last long after the session ends.
“Queer Town provided me with the tools to help make my classroom a more inclusive space. I was given strategies to use in moments when I previously haven’t been sure how to address the needs of my LGBTIQA+ students.”
