PRIDE MONTH GIVEAWAY!

WIN A CULTURES OF COURAGE WORKSHOP WITH MITCH BROWN & LOU KECK

To celebrate Pride Month we want to give YOU the chance to win something special.

Throughout June 2026, we’re running a competition where one workplace, school or sporting club will win a free Queer Town workshop: Cultures of Courage, co-designed and facilitated by Mitch Brown and Lou Keck.

In this workshop, teams hear firsthand from Mitch as he shares his story and reflects on the environments that shaped his experience as the first openly bisexual male AFL player. Together, Mitch and Lou guide teams through powerful conversations about culture, courage, allyship and the role we all play in creating environments where people feel safe to show up as themselves.

WHAT DO YOU WIN:

1 x 90-minute Cultures of Courage workshop, which includes:

  • In-person workshop delivery at your workplace, school or sports club

  • Facilitated by Mitch Brown & Lou Keck

  • Interactive discussion and Q&A

  • Pre-workshop survey to tailor the content

  • Photography/video content from the session

  • In sporting teams, workplaces and schools, there are moments when behaviour falls short of shared standards but in the moment it can be difficult to know how to respond. When those moments pass without being addressed, silence can begin to shape what becomes normal within a culture.

This session helps teams respond to those moments earlier and more constructively. By strengthening awareness, empathy and the confidence to speak up, teams reinforce the standards they want to uphold.

Over time, cultures where people feel able to address issues respectfully foster stronger trust, accountability and high performance.

Drawing on Mitch Brown’s experience within elite football, as the first openly bisexual male in men’s AFL, the session combines candid storytelling with facilitated discussion and practical bystander strategies.

    • To understand how cultures of silence develop and influence norms and behaviour within teams

    • To build empathy and awareness of the experiences that shape how people show up within teams

    • To identify common barriers that prevent people from speaking up

    • To apply practical bystander strategies in real world situations

    • To build confidence to address behaviour early and reinforce trust, respect and accountability

    • To strengthen shared team commitments that support speaking up and psychological safety

    • Entrant must be over 18 years of age.

    • Entrants must be based within metropolitan Melbourne.

    • Workshops must be delivered in person.

    • Workshops must take place before 1 October 2026.

    • Winning organisations must be comfortable with photography and video content being captured during the session for promotional purposes.

    • The prize is not redeemable for cash, credit or alternative Queer Town services.

    • The prize is non-transferable.

“The way Lou was able to reframe concepts of identity that have often felt intangible to me helped me understand how silence really causes harm in workplaces. i’m feeling very motivated to look for these patterns in my team after today.”
